Dog
Uelzener, Allianz, Helvetia, AGILA
- Allianz: four lines Basis, Smart, Komfort and Premium, surgery limit 2,500 EUR to unlimited, entry from week 8 with no maximum age, three months waiting period, accidents immediately.
- Uelzener: reimbursement regardless of the GOT fee factor, annual limit 3,000, 6,000 EUR or unlimited, entry from day one with no maximum age, 30 days waiting period.
- Helvetia and AGILA: up to four times the GOT fee depending on the plan, age limits and deductible depend on the plan.
Cat
Uelzener, Allianz, Helvetia, AGILA
- Allianz: surgery limit 2,000 EUR to unlimited, treatment without surgery 1,000 to 6,000 EUR per line, no maximum age, three months waiting period.
- Uelzener: annual limit 1,000, 5,000 EUR or unlimited, outdoor and indoor cats insured alike, 30 days waiting period.
- We review dental care and FORL separately. Some plans apply longer waiting periods or separate add-ons for them.
Horse
Uelzener, Allianz, BarmeniaGothaer, GHV, R+V
- Uelzener and Allianz accept horses with no maximum entry age. BarmeniaGothaer up to 19 years, GHV up to 16, R+V up to 15, each for surgery cover.
- Allianz: surgery limit 7,500 EUR to unlimited. Uelzener: surgery or full cover with 15,000, 25,000 or 50,000 EUR per year, colic as a separate module.
- Colic, chips and X-ray findings, dental care, use and stays abroad are reviewed one by one before any recommendation.
Good to know
GPS and health tracker with the policyWith Uelzener, dog and cat owners can add a Tractive GPS and health tracker to a surgery or full-cover policy at no device cost. You pay the tracker subscription yourself. With the prevention add-on, part of the subscription is reimbursed each year.

To be honest
When we advise differently- Young animal, small budget: AGILA is often cheaper for surgery cover as long as the dog is under five and the cat under eight.
- Cat with a fixed limit: Allianz Komfort covers 8,000 EUR a year and 4,000 EUR of treatment without surgery at a similar premium.
- Pre-existing conditions or planned treatment: the health assessment comes first, then the recommendation, with every insurer.
Selection basis: for dogs and cats we consider Uelzener, Allianz, Helvetia and AGILA, for horses also BarmeniaGothaer, GHV and R+V. We add further insurers to the review on request.

The key questions before your plan review
01What is the difference between surgery-only and full cover?
Surgery cover focuses on insured operations and, depending on the plan, diagnostics and aftercare. Full cover may also include outpatient treatment, medication and preventive care. The exact scope is always set by the policy terms.
02What happens with pre-existing conditions?
Medical information may lead to exclusions, additional premiums or rejection. The insurer decides whether and on what terms an animal can be accepted after its medical assessment.
03Does my animal's age matter?
Yes. Entry age, premium and available plans may depend on age. We therefore ask for it before making a recommendation and do not promise blanket acceptance.
04Why do horses have a separate path?
For horses, keeping and use matter alongside age and health. We therefore do not treat horse cover as a copied dog plan, but assess the need separately.
05Which insurers does Healio compare?
For dogs and cats we review Uelzener, Allianz, Helvetia and AGILA among others, for horses Uelzener, Allianz, BarmeniaGothaer, GHV and R+V. The selection depends on your animal's age, health and use. If an insurer is not an option, we tell you that too.
06Does a GPS tracker come with the policy?
With Uelzener, dog and cat owners can add a Tractive GPS and health tracker to a surgery or full-cover policy at no device cost. The tracker subscription costs extra, from about five euros a month on multi-year terms. The offer has no published end date, so we confirm it before you apply.
07What happens after my inquiry?
